Abstract. The paper is devoted to the criticism of the Moorean argument in contemporary philosophy of mind. The hard problem of consciousness and one of its solutions, illusionism, are described. The polemic around the Moorean argument against illusionism is analyzed. It is shown that a promising direction of research is the comparison of the Moorean argument against illusionism and the original argument of G.E. Moore for the external world. From a comparison of the premises of these arguments, it is concluded that the Moorean argument is not based on common sense to the same extent that Moore’s argument is based on common sense.
